A simple review for Call Of Duty 2 on the P.C (And 360 in part)

What can I add to whats already been said about this amazingly realistic WWII fps?

Well I'll try to add a tiny bit...

The basics:

The game is simple to install and run, providing you are running all the latest drivers etc, I haven't heard of any problems like you get with some new games that won't run straight out of the box.

The controls are honed to perfection, the best of the bunch, nothing complicated or confusing. It works on the 360 very well for a fps.

Does it need a powerful P.C to run? = Yes if you want eye candy to die for.
On the 360 it looks stunning 'as-is', I didn't think they would pull it off but they did and respect goes out to all involved in the development work.

Multiplayer = Of course, a big 'plus' if you like MP as there are thousands of players all around the world waiting to play yer to death!

Is it accurate?

There's like three facets to COD 2, which makes the gameplay so much better than before. (And thats saying summat bearing in mind COD1 and its expansion were fine to start with!)

You get to choose the path that you want to play (Although u do have to finish some missions before you can progress to the American missions.)

All missions follow real life scenarios:

Set in Russia, you play as a Russian soldier...

"The Winter War"
"Fortress Stalingrad"
"Not One Step Backwards!"

Set in Africa, you play as a British soldier...

"The Battle Of El Alamein"
"The Tank Squadrons"
"Rommel's Last Stand"

Set in Europe, you play as an American Soldier...

"D-Day" Mission Set
"The Battle For Caen" Mission Set
"Hill 400" Mission Set
"Crossing The Rhine" Mission Set

...The list above breaks down into 27 individual missions! And like I said you can swap and change between missions as you like so everything remains fresh.

The accuracy of the game is very good, if you don't believe me get hold of the special edition version of the game it originally came with bonus 'making of' DVD. This DVD is worth the money on its own if you are a fan of the genre/history, it speaks with veterans and game designers alike and really sets the scene that comes across so well in the actual game.

The work that went into the AI was incredible

Gameplay Tips:

Well you shouldn't need any, they added a new method of 'health giving' to COD 2, which means you don't need to look for health packs. If the screen turns a red misty colour move out of the firing line! Some people don't like the 'new' method, which I can appreciate but in the main it works fine especially if you crank up the game difficulty, one shot and you are dead, you have been warned.

Summary:

I doubt there's anyone out there that hasn't played this game on one system or another and you can see why, it really is a pick up and play game, nothing complicated or overpowering.

The rest is history the game has already won countless awards and has just gone on to set a record for selling a 1,000,000 units on the 360 alone!
