Perfect Dark 2 Cancelled?

In the world of Rare it's been far from quiet of late. After CVG reported that Kameo 2 has been canceled, some gaming sites reported that Rare's death was near and that it's essentially Microsoft's fault.

The upcoming Project Natal and Rare's restructure were mentioned months ago. Add to that the low sales of the first Kameo. The writing almost seems to be on the wall for Rare.

Rare's own employees said that both Kameo 1 and Perfect Dark Zero sold "well".

Unfortunately, Microsoft and Rare did not see eye to eye regarding Kameo's sales. According to CVG's source, another "traditional" sequel was cancelled as well as Kameo 2. Could second title be Perfect Dark 2?

Old footage from a former Rare employee has been seen, showing an early version of Perfect Dark 2. This was produced in 2007 before the project was scrapped.

According to a number of former Rare employees, Perfect Dark 2 was indeed started in 2007, but by late 2007 it still wasn't approved; it was just a prototype.

Chris Seavor from 'Conker' and 'Killer Instinct' was in charge of the project, but by early 2008, the Perfect Dark 2 team was cut down to a three person team, putting the game on a indefinite hiatus. Word from these former employees said that it would be "overwhelmingly unlikely" that Perfect Dark 2 would no longer be set in the PD universe.

Early 2008, and Perfect Dark 2 turned more into more of a technical demo then anything else. Even so, this was still in its early stages and with a grim future.

Rare has hopes of creating a Natal FPS. According to MCV, Mark Betteridge, the Creative Director of Rare, believes that a first person shooter on Natal would be a "great opportunity to break new ground with content and gameplay" as well as a chance "to exercise some genre evolution." Could this mean Rare has a Natal-FPS in development? Could it be a Perfect Dark for Natal?
