Microsoft to Release Xbox 360 with Built-In HD DVD Drive

Microsoft to Release Xbox 360 with Built-In HD DVD Drive? Maybe, people over at teamxbox.com

"Digi-Times reports today that Microsoft is selecting manufacturers in Taiwan to provide an internal HD DVD drive that will be used in a forthcoming Xbox 360 edition designed to compete with Sony's PlayStation 3.

Microsoft will offer an external HD-DVD drive for its Xbox 360 at around the end of this year, in an attempt to compete with the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), which will have a built-in Blu-ray Disc (BD) drive, the sources indicated. The external HD-DVD drive, however, can only play back movies, the sources noted.

The sources told Digi-Times that Microsoft plans to release this special Xbox 360 model in the first quarter of 2007."

So for all current 360 owners, going to sell your current 360 to get an all and one package? Or just get the add-on?
Could this mean HD-games are around the next turn?

Considering this article is the source of all the rumors:
    http://www.digitimes.com/systems/a20060913A6035.html

I don't think we have much to worry about. An unnamed source working for an unknown company in a small blurb on a small website isn't exactly a reliable source of information.

Microsoft knows it would be a PR nightmare if they were to suddenly change their minds on the internal HD-DVD drive.

Looking at the article again, it looks like the word "internal" is just a typo. In one sentence they're refering to the drive being internal, in the other it seems like they're refering to the same drive as external....
