Annnnnnd this crap again....
Spokesperson for Nintendo has confirmed that Japan will be getting the "enhanced" Wii with DVD function. The official word:

"There are currently plans to release a version of Wii in Japan featuring DVD playback. There are currently no plans to bring this model to Europe or the US."

Samething they did with the Panisonic GameCube....
